For both internal and external first interview steps (after an initial resume review), HireVue is an integral piece of the end to end recruitment process. HireVue eliminates scheduling for both the candidate and interviewer by providing a virtual platform to answer pre-selected questions at leisure within a specified timeframe. This gives each participating party flexibility and saves time.

It was very convenient given where I am geographically located to interview with our corporate office in Rhode Island. It provided the convenience of interviewing remotely for the opening posted.

We started using HireVue about a year ago when we realized that the quality of candidates we were getting for all of our positions were not meeting our corporate culture standards and beliefs and turnover was very high. When I came across HireVue at a technology conference I was excited about the product. We started with only one of our departments and turnover almost immediately dropped. We decided to roll it out to the rest of the organization and it has produced tremendous results. All our managers are very happy with the product and the results it is generating for each of their departments.
  • Managers have the ability to rate candidates, so it helps narrow down a large pool to your top candidates.
  • Great customization, so it has to the look and feel of our brand and our culture.
  • You get to see who you are hiring and you can put a face to a name and their background.
  • All around great tool that is being adopted by many other companies
  • A tool where smaller companies can create an intro and closing video.
  • Better integration with Applicant Tracking Software.
  • Allow companies to go in and change their branding themselves or change the email templates that go out to candidates.
HireVue is well suited for any type of company but I think it works well for companies who are looking for customer service or member facing employees.

We are using it to evaluate candidates interested in joining the team. It is being used by the internal HR department and the management team.
  • They are innovative, and are doing it well. Long gone are the days of bad Skype connections and blurred faces.
  • Not at a desk? Phew! No problem - their focus on mobile sets them apart and makes it easy and convenient.
  • Their customer service is paramount when you are a small company or initially taking on such a long endeavor.
  • HireVue is such a great product, however its integration with Greenhouse ATS leaves something to be desired and there are a lot of manual workouts for something that could be seamless. One repeated request is that a hiring manager should be able to view the employee's resume in both systems. But to make that happen - HR needs to download it from the ATS and upload it to HireVue.
  • The systems themselves don't integrate that well. We love reschedule - but it doesn't work directly with HireVue - but it does work great with the ATS.
  • MORE FREEDOM! Their coaching is great - but once in a while we want to create and be able to change what is in an automatic email. Maybe it is a one time manage, or a way for us to experiment with targeted messaging to stay inline with out recruitment campaigns. They are on the way though as we can now personalize reminders and invitations.
HireVue is great for high volume positions. You can evaluate more candidates in a shorter amount of time, thus improving the candidate experience.

HireVue is being used across the whole organization but primarily was implemented for high volume teacher recruitment across approximately 60 schools.
  • Streamlines process - candidates can complete at a time that is good for them and recruiters/hiring managers can review at a time that is good for them.
  • Simulates an interview before the actual interview - candidates see a video from our President and testimonials from staff about our organization and then see someone asking them a question to which they then reply; they also have ability to re-record their answers, which you can't do in a live interview!
  • Provides greater insights into candidates than a phone interview because allows for capturing behavioral characteristics and assessment of professionalism and articulation that are not as easily captured through a phone interview while saving time from having to jump right to in-person interview, which is difficult to do when there are so many vacancies and candidates across a wide regional area.
  • Integration with ATS (we have Cornerstone) for allowing managers to access the candidate's resume (and application!) right from the video interview through HireVue. Would help to further streamline hiring process for managers and recruiters.
  • Leverage client info by offering clients who are willing to share their videos and questions the ability to access other clients videos and questions who have also signed up for sharing with links right from within system for browsing rather than having to log into customer success centers; by building this library and body of knowledge allows for sharing of ideas and best practices in a way that is accessible when you need it, where you need it, can foster greater use of the system for all
  • Allow for using multiple videos in a segment that just transition from one to another so clients that don't have video editing expertise don't have to find someone to join separate videos together into and compress them to fit file size limits

We use Hirevue as a core part of our screening process (within our overall recruitment process) for our own business and the clients we consult to.
  • The technology is continually improved, which we believe is critical for a software provider!
  • Customer service (from our account manager) has been attentive and top-rate.
  • The technology saves us time, money and headaches - so delivers on the brand promise
  • Pricing of the product is 'mysterious' - this is probably not an issue for corporates, but is a turn-off for private enterprises.
I think HireVue is applicable to all recruitment / screening situations. There may be an argument that it is intimidating for some candidates, but I think in the year 2016 we would hope that / want potential team members have some comfort with this style of technology.

HirVue is being used by my whole organization. This is something that separates us from all of our competition. We use this to help our clients get a good look in to each and every candidate. They are able to see the professionalism, polish and energy of their candidates without having to commit to any money. Our clients also enjoy this product because they are able to use this on their own time. Just think, reviewing live footage on an airplane. Such a timesaver.

This product also helps us with hiring marketers and other sales positions that will be remote for our clients. It's a large amount of money to bring someone from California to Florida, so when our clients can see a full candidate profile, it is easier for them to justify flying that individual in to their organization.
  • They have a phenomenal customer support team. They answer the phone 24/7 and help my candidates with any technical difficulties. They are so nice to my candidates and make them feel like part of the team.
  • The video is very user friendly. In this market we have a variety of ages for candidates who take the video interview. Old or young, our candidates find this to be a very user friendly program.
  • The video quality is amazing. When you receive a completed video interview it is not "grainy." It comes over crystal clear and it all around is professional looking.
  • I would like to be able to add more than one person to a video at once. Yes it's easy now, I just think it would be easier to blast through all of the info then hit "save."
  • Not sure why it says "save" instead of "send" when sending out a video interview.
  • I'm really trying to find weaknesses and that is why tried to be picky... If I had one more weakness I'd say I want a way to delete old users from showing up. Archiving is not good enough. There should be a delete button.
HireVue is the best tool we have for our Open House/Career Fair offerings. It is a slam dunk for us with our clients. We have hundreds of candidates that come out to our events and it is impossible for us to interview face-to-face ALL of the candidates. However, with the video interview we can capture all of the data needed to bring in candidates for another round of face-to-face interviews.

HireVue is being used within our customer service organization as a pre-screen tool for our customer service representative (high volume) positions across the US. It is helping us identify top candidates quickly and reduce the amount of time recruiters are spending in the pre-screening process.
  • The technology is seamless for candidates and works well on mobile devices or anything with a webcam.

HireVue is used to pre-screen our sales and clinical services managers. It is also used by hiring managers to conduct live final interviews when they cannot meet the candidate face-to-face. This product significantly reduces the cost of candidate expenses and hiring expenses at our organization.
  • The OnDemand interview function of HireVue is an excellent resource for recruiters in place of the phone screen. It is also used by hiring managers in pre-screening applicants who will engage with our customers.
  • The training for HireVue for hiring managers could be better. We also have issues using HireVue with Internet Explorer. It would be better to know what browsers/versions are required for hiring managers and candidates.
  • I'm not sure if there is a handbook or document that I can provide to first time users (i.e. how to get started or trouble-shooting). That would be really helpful.
I wish all the departments were using it for pre-screening.

We use HireVue within our own recruiting department and for some of our clients to assist with their recruiting needs.
  • Good way to quickly screen and assess candidates when utilizing one way videos.
  • I also like the two way video feature for more in-depth videos.
  • I have used the two way video feature and recorded the interview so other parties could view them later to aid in the decision making process.
  • I don't think this is a HireVue issue per se but a lot of our managers are on the road constantly and you need quite a strong WiFi signal for the video feature to work properly.
  • We need to be able to articulate the clear advantages of using something like HireVue over FaceTime or Skype which a lot of our clients are used to using and see and easy and free.
I think it can always be utilized, sometimes our short timelines can make it really challenging but overall HireVue is a valuable too.

HireVue is used by human resources, both on the graduate/apprentice side as well as the experienced hire side.

I personally use it for graduate/apprentice recruitment, in replacement of telephone interviews. It helps us deal with volumes of candidates, share candidates and get others' opinions and easily rank the top scorers.

  • Creates an average score across the interview.
  • Different types of question responses (written, video, multiple choice, etc).
  • Being able to review lots of candidates in one day and the interviews are already recorded.
  • Candidates can take the interviews at a time that is most convenient to them.
  • Different ways of scoring to be bespoke per organisation (not just 1-5).
HireVue is well suited to a younger audience who appreciates that companies have large volumes of candidates to review. Experienced hires tend to prefer to have face to face or at least telephone contact.

  • Alerting individuals that they need to answer their video interview questions
  • Using the website is completely easy.
  • Allowing our candidates to redo questions if needed.
  • Sometimes the written questions did not match the video questions.
  • The expiration time to access the video links to start answering questions.
  • Allowing others to gain access to videos that have previously been viewed - the ratings are shown as blank.
When talking on the phone is difficult, viewing the videos is a great way to see what our candidates are feeling about the questions.

Another plus is hiring managers and recruiters are able to customize how HireVue is used as well.

HireVue is currently being used only in the recruiting department. A majority of our employees are field representatives, which means they often live in another state, making it very difficult to have a physical interview with the candidates. HireVue allows us to interview the candidate without having to have one of our field managers physically meet the candidate.
  • HireVue is very reliable, I rarely have tech issues with the website.
  • HireVue's customer service team is great, the few times I or one of my candidates has had an issue, the team is very responsive and works very hard to solve the problem.
  • It's extremely innovative - I have had multiple candidates tell me how new and different this type of interview is and how much they enjoy it.
  • Using the HireVue software can be an little impersonal to a candidate, only because there is not someone physically interviewing them.
  • HireVue could do a better job of preparing the candidate for the interview. The other websites that I have seen are really great, but when I actually took the HireVue I ended up being nervous and somewhat intimidated.
I think HireVue is GREAT for a company that is majority field representatives. I would think it would be less appropriate for a company that has the ability to physically interview all of their candidates (however, that is becoming a thing of the past because a majority of companies have multiple corporate offices, or people working virtually).

HireVue is being used by my department, as well as two others, within my organization. It helps us gauge medical competence, customer service skills and bedside manner in candidates who are being considered for a front-line position.
  • It allows us to see how fluently a candidate is able to react and speak to direct prompts; the same way a face-to-face interview would.
  • It allows us to test their medical knowledge.
  • It allows us to assess their computer/technical knowledge.
  • Higher resolution videos, to match the otherwise trendy image of the application; which is visible to external candidates and can shape their view of our company.
  • Ability to share video of individual responses. This would be useful when a hiring manager needs an SME (within the organization, but who might not use HireVue) to validate the answer to a specific question for any reason.
  • Ability to change how interviews are scored without having to create a new profile.
I believe it satisfies the basic purpose of screening candidates efficiently; this can be useful when candidates are remote, or when a company needs to staff up quickly.

It is less appropriate for positions where the incumbent would be required to answer to or collaborate with a variety of departments or stakeholders, as they may each have different interview questions or scenarios they want to probe, and a cookie-cutter interview is not sufficient for all to gauge or assess.

We use HireVue across the organization. It has replaced many of the live HR interviews we used to complete.
  • 24/7 customer support. Our candidates work 24/7 as well so it's great they can call anytime and get support.
  • We are a partner with them not just a customer. They listen to our needs/concerns/suggestions.
  • They are always improving their product.
  • The Coordinate tool still needs to fix some of the kinks.

We purchased HireVue to help with our hiring process as a ATS system. Originally we liked the concept of having interviews done before the initial contact. HireVue is a great concept. However, we found for our particular working model, people filling out resumes would stop when they found out they had to do a video interview. Our resume pool dropped considerably for certain departments. Again, fantastic concept and I would recommend HireVue to anyone, just not for us.
  • Customer service is outstanding. Available to answer questions and willing to do anything they could to help. Very friendly.
  • Great implementation team! Made the start up process go without a hitch.
  • Great concept. If you are looking for a way to not have to look through all those tedious resumes HireVue is a great product.
  • Ease of use for the applicant. We actually had some people call to say they could not use the product easily as their computers would not allow it.
  • Website is a little intimidating. As I mentioned before most stopped applying when they found out they had to do a video interview.

I used HireVue when I was applying for a Nike internship. It was used as the second round interview. It was a little intimidating being recorded and not having much planning time to answer the questions. Now that I am on the recruiting side at Nike I think it is very helpful to be able to see the candidates in the video, their personality, etc.
  • Very organized.
  • User friendly--on the interviewee side.
  • Saves a lot of time for recruiters--rather than having Skype interviews with 100+ candidates, I can view 30-60 second clips of each candidate to give me a better feeling of who the candidate is.
  • Allow more time for the candidate to plan their answer before it starts recording.
I think it is appropriate for an intern or entry level position, however as the position gets higher, I wouldn't use HireVue. At that point, you would fly the candidate out to campus to interview.

HireVue is being used by one department in our organization as a tool for screening new applicants. The public viewing option of the HireVue videos allows us to share the materials across the whole organization. This tool has saved us hours of time and effort managing phone interviews and capturing feedback/ratings to be shared with the final interviewers for a particular candidate.
  • Increases our organization's time to hire metrics - candidates are invited to complete an interview and within three days, we can review and decide on their next steps without any back-and-forth with the candidate.
  • Captures real-time data about candidates status and interview ratings.
  • User-friendly - the system is very intuitive and easy to use.
  • The HireVue support team is great and very responsive to feedback and suggestions - many of the changes we have requested have already been updated and implemented. One change I'd like to see is increased integration with other applicant tracking software systems (i.e. where ratings are rolled over into the other system, the other system links to the HireVue invitation as opposed to manually entry).
  • Would like to have the option of editing an interview once created without closing and opening a new job.
  • Would like to be able to move candidate interviews over to other open positions if they should be considered in another job pipeline.
HireVue is great as an initial screening tool to replace written questions or phone interviews.

We use HireVue for any and all final round interviews that are unable to attend locally, or in an office that does not have any hiring managers. We use it across our entire recruiting function, but I specifically use it for my sales/account management and client service associate candidates. It has saved us thousands of dollars in candidate travel costs, and has also allowed our teams to collaborate on decisions when they may be in different offices/locations throughout North America. Since we are building out a new office in Minneapolis, this has also allowed us to hire there without any formal presence of hiring managers.
  • Your customer service department is fantastic. I am confident in telling candidates to contact you with any questions or issues they have launching the platform, I know that every experience is timely and they can easily get to a human being to speak with during a time that is quite stressful for them.
  • It is very user friendly - I am not tech savvy whatsoever and it has been easy to maneuver and schedule interviews in about 30 seconds.
  • I receive feedback often that the HireVue link didn't work for candidates/hiring teams. This may be operator error but it seems to be happening quite frequently.
It comes in handy when the candidate is still in school and can't travel for the interview, so we have streamlined the process where any candidate out of state will use HireVue. We have also hired all of our Minneapolis candidates through HireVue. Candidates do enjoy seeing the office so as an added step we have scheduled office tours once they have pending offers. I would say the decision lies on location, availability and office choice.

Our company has an extensive interview process including a phone screen and at least two in person interviews. This can prove to be a lengthy process and we found that we would often lose candidates along the way. We began using HireVue as a solution to expedite the interviewing process as candidates can perform the interview based on their schedule. It has been great for us so far! We've also received positive feedback from our candidates.
  • The interface for both us and the candidates is very user friendly.
  • We are able to upload videos of ourselves asking the questions which makes it a more human experience than just talking to a written question.
  • We can have multiple people within our organization view and rate a candidate. HireVue even calculates all the data so we have a big picture of how the candidate rated overall.
  • Some candidates have complained about not receiving the interview invitation from HireVue. We've had to resend a number of times, with most claiming that emails from HireVue ended up in their spam folder.
I think HireVue is a great tool for any business. However, I don't think it should be the only tool you use during the interview process. We start our process by having a quick phone conversation with the candidate to gauge their seriousness about the position. If we skip that part we often find that candidates dismiss the HireVue request wondering if it is a real person watching on the other end. Additionally, we always conduct an in person interview as the final step before being hired. However, the HireVue platform is great for narrowing it down to only our top candidates.

HireVue is being used across the organization for all recruiting needs. We implement it in field hires (90%) and corporate hires (10%). It helps us hire quickly and augments, improves and expedites the interview process for both candidates and hiring mangers.
  • Speed - it's quick, painless, and immediately available to view.
  • Culturally relevant - in a world of tech, it makes the process of finding and getting a job up-to-date and "cool" for our target audience.
  • Easy to navigate - lots of instruction and examples.
  • Appealing to higher level roles - maybe additional practice time, etc., - we haven't gotten great candidate feedback on user friendliness when it comes to higher level roles.
  • The rating process- it could stand to be more detailed.
  • The data/user input process- integrating with other programs to input email/name, etc., as sometimes entering it is a little time consuming.
HireVue is well suited for high volume, consumer facing roles, but less appropriate for higher level, complex roles where someone prefers to have a conversation with an interviewee vs. recording a response.

We use HireVue as a recruitment tool. Our candidates complete a HIreVue interview and we send them to our clients to review with their resumes. Our clients find it easier to make hiring decision when they can see the candidate answer interview questions. It is being used by the staffing department and it is a wonderful tool.
  • Great customization options for creating interviews. You can customize each interview to fit your opening and the client's needs.
  • Good customer service when issues or questions need to be answered.
  • You can customize landing pages with your company's brand.
  • Great template of interview questions to choose from or you can make your own.
  • Some candidates are intimidated to take it so maybe doing a more engaging introductory/ instructional video would help. The one they currently use is good but it could be updated.
I use HireVue all the time unless a client is in an extreme hurry to hire, sometimes motivating candidates to complete the interview takes time so for those jobs that need to be filled in a day or two it is not appropriate. We usually have a basic introductory interview that fits most positions so that makes things easier on us and the client; with questions like tell us about your last three jobs, what are you looking for in a position, your strengths and weaknesses. These are appropriate questions for most positions and work well for a busy staffing company.
